Magafold Lady Cocoa Snookerdoodle of Texas Fold'em

The effects of "estrus" on Scottish Fold Females

Female Scottish Folds with folded ears that have NOT been spayed will sometimes experience ear fold changes at the age of estrus when her heat cycle.  At this time, her ears may lift and fall depending on hormonal changes in her body.  Due to Cocoa's pregnancy hormones, her ears are standing "up" more than usual in some of these pictures of her.  This is a well known fact with the scottish fold breed.  Her ears are genetically a much tighter double fold before she began estrus.
Cocoa's kittens (if spayed) will remain tightly folded throughout their life.

Cocoa's teenage pictures will reflect her true ear fold, but as a breeder her ears will probably remain slightly "unfolded" in appearance.  It is rare, but ear changes can occur in any scottish fold due to age, stress, hormones, temperature, and other intense conditions.

Scottish Fold MALES do not have this effect, their fold quality will remian the same throughout their life.

Scottish Fold FEMALES that ARE spayed at an early age will not experience unfolding ears because their female hormones never surge.
