Breed Profile

Personality
The Scottish Folds are intelligent, sweet, gentle and quiet cats that make no demands on life, other than to be close to the people they love.  With a fascination for water, they are often found playing in the sink or shower, and always enjoy a pet water fountain to drink from.  They are a very loyal breed with a tendency to form a bond with one person, and are also very personable with just about everyone they meet.  There is no difference in personality between the folded ear and non-folded ear cat in this breed.  The genetic mutation that forms the fold in the ear is the only real difference, making the straight ear folds (oxymoron) a very desirable family pet, whereas the folded ear cats often enjoy a successful career in the show ring.  Scottish Folds thrive on attention and absolutely love to be near you, but usually not a lap fungus.  There's not a mischievous bone in their body, just take one look into their eyes to see their pure innocence!  They are known to be one of the only cat breeds to enjoy a good game of fetch, and they seem to retain their playful nature throughout adulthood as well.  Intensely inquisitive by nature, Scottish Folds love to help supervise whatever you happen to be doing.  They get along very well with other animals, including dogs.

Physical Attributes
This breed has a fairly cobby appearance with overall well-rounded features.  Their eyes should be gold with an innocent expression.  A stubby neck and medium bone structure defines their solid compact body.  With their big round eyes and folded ears, they often look like furry little owls and posses a unique expression among feline breeds.
